The stories I hear about grad school are pretty weird. Supervisors give advice like
"No procreation till you finish your thesis," or
"You better not get all A's in your courses, or else that means you're not working hard enough on your research".
From what I gather, life shall be partitioned into research and !research, where the latter is a the size of a sweet pea.
I need to stop blogging and go back to my research.

It's all about the money
I worry.
The time has come to apply to the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland, to pursue my Masters in Robotics. But I forgot one little thing.
I'm poor. Switzerland is expensive. Masters students don't get funding there. Ok, that's three things, that all came dumping down on my head last night as I cowered in my chair.
As a friend reminded me last night, money is important. I can't run around, bright-eyed and idealistic, only to cross the ocean and find myself without home. I'm still really choked that I missed the deadline for the Erasmus Mundus EMARO and VIBOT scholarships, which hand out 20k/year to study vision and robotics in two different european countries.
So I've still got my back-up plans. But there MUST be something else. Who wants to settle for plan B?

I <3 My House
Mmm, can't ya just smell that new-home freshness? Indeed, I've moved (again), and I'm completely in love with the place. A 4 min walk from my lab, 2 min walk from the best Chewy Chocolate Cake on campus, and a 1 min walk to the gym (to make up for the chewy chocolate cake). Oh, and southfacing, brightly-lit glory. For the first few days, I camped out in my empty apartment in a sleeping bag, because I love waking up in the sun.
