It's all about the money

I worry.

The time has come to apply to the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland, to pursue my Masters in Robotics. But I forgot one little thing.

I'm poor. Switzerland is expensive. Masters students don't get funding there. Ok, that's three things, that all came dumping down on my head last night as I cowered in my chair.

As a friend reminded me last night, money is important. I can't run around, bright-eyed and idealistic, only to cross the ocean and find myself without home. I'm still really choked that I missed the deadline for the Erasmus Mundus EMARO and VIBOT scholarships, which hand out 20k/year to study vision and robotics in two different european countries.

So I've still got my back-up plans. But there MUST be something else. Who wants to settle for plan B?

There must be something, yeah. I remember attending a meeting about erasmus-like programs... there were dozens (but they're for French people going abroad). I'm sure you'll find something =)
...and ultimately, if no one else can help, and if you can find 'em, maybe you can hire... the A-team! Er sorry, I'm watching too much tv.

Oh neat, I hadn't seen the Eumi program. Yeah admittedly they only accepted 20 people out of something like 400 applications. So the competition must have been pretty fierce.

Upcoming is Japan's Monbukagakusho scholarship (http://www.ca.emb-japan.go.jp/canada_e/CultureEducation/MEXT/index.html). Robots in Japan!!
